The Corporate Services Team has an exciting opportunity for an IT Network Analyst to join their team. The successful candidate would be responsible for day to day operational support as well as projects in the network area (LAN/MAN/WAN).
This is a hands-on technical position responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, support, and management of highly-available network solutions for [Company]. Core LAN switching, routing, and management of the Cisco IPTel network environment are the focus of this position.
Please note this is a 12-month contract.
Responsibilities:
- conducting daily support of [Company]'s LAN and MAN networks
- management and monitoring of the Cisco IPTel network infrastructure
- maintaining a current set of Enterprise Network standards used for providing solutions
- providing project-based solutions to enterprise-wide networking requirements
- delivering standardized network solutions based on business requirements
- providing senior-level mentoring to junior members on the team
- providing timely resolution of network deficiencies and problems
- evaluation and implementation of Network products (i.e. Cisco models, monitoring tools, etc.)
- documentation of existing and new network implementations
- providing rotational on-call after hours support 7x24x365 as well as implementing changes outside of core business hours
Qualifications:
- must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- 8+ years local area networking skills as well as wide area networking skills
- 5 years Cisco IPTel skills
- 8+ years technical hands-on Cisco Network experience in the following: IOS and CatOS products and configurations; LAN and WAN technologies and configurations; design and configuration, installation, management, and support of highly-available network solutions
- 8+ years experience work management and troubleshooting tools (Sniffer, SolarWinds, CiscoWorks, etc.)
- expert level understanding of network switching and routing
- comprehensive understanding of datacenter-based highly available networks
- experience with enterprise-level applications (JDE, Oracle, etc.) and detailed knowledge of how they work and interact on the network
- familiarity with large datacenter environments and support of various systems within (Blade servers, SANs, etc.)
- wiring standards (Cat5E, Cat6, single-mode and multi-mode fibre) experience
- experience with EIGRP routing, VPN tunneling, QoS
- experience with Ethernet-based WAN, MPLS, Frame Relay, DS3, wireless and satellite
- familiarity with various WAN service providers and technologies
- remote troubleshooting and problem resolution experience
- experience with wireless technologies for point-to-point links - 802.11, licensed band, etc.
- some experience with towers, antennas, cabling, path loss, etc. used for wireless links
- experience with Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity, and IPCC
- IPTel gateway and media resources configuration experience
- VOIP protocols and standards - SIP, MGCP, RTP, RTCP, SDP, etc. experience
- traditional PBX knowledge would be an asset
- familiarity with Problem Ticketing and Tracking tools, such as Magic and BMC Service Desk would be an asset
- previous oil and gas experience would be an asset
- knowledge of management tools such as SNMPc, SolarWinds Orion, OPNet IT Guru, Infinistream Sniffer, and Visio would be an asset
- experience with Enterprise change management and incident handling would be an asset
- possessing certifications such as CCNP, CCIP, CCDP, etc. would be an asset, but are not required
- expert troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
