The Integrated Oil Division is seeking an Application Steward (ArcSDE Architect and Administrator). This role is to provide day-to-day support for the Cenovus GIS data environment including ArcSDE and file-based raster and LiDAR data. In addition to support activities this role will provide technical leadership within the Geomatics team on the development and implementation of the GIS data architecture.
Responsibilities:
- providing technical and business support to end users of GIS data products and services
- troubleshooting data used through the business units, and share the solutions and resolutions with fellow team members
- facilitating and participating in testing of the GIS data environment as part of the software lifecycle management activities
- managing the Change Control and Incident Management processes for spatial data
- creating and maintaining support documentation in line with Cenovus ITIL processes (i.e. Callflows)
- conducting problem management including working with other internal IT groups to ensure successful delivery of new changes or resolution of break/fix issues
- adhering to the established best practices for acquiring new data and licenses
- managing the lifecycle of GIS data from implementation to retirement
- developing and facilitating ArcSDE geodatabase versioning workflows
- providing input on GIS data architecture, data standards, and technology as part of a GIS technology strategy for the Geomatics standards
Applications and data associated to this stewardship role will include:
- ArcSDE 9.3 feature classes, spatial views, and geodatabases
- ETL tools including the FME suite and Spatial Direct
- Informatica Power Centre, Oracle, PL-SQL
- ArcGIS Model Builder, Python, and ArcToolbox
- file-based data including shapefiles, layer (lyr) files, personal geodatabases, rasters, and LiDAR
Qualifications:
- must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or related study or equivalent experience
- 5 to 7 years experience supporting and maintaining GIS data within an enterprise environment, which includes working in Oracle and UNIX environments
- 5 to 7 years knowledge and experience in ESRI geodatabase design within ArcSDE
- 5 to 7 years knowledge and experience in Geomatics science including working with datums (NAD27, NAD83), datum conversion tools, and creation and maintenance of spatial data
- 2 to 3 years knowledge and experience working with raster data including satellite and aerial imagery
- 2 to 3 years knowledge and experience working with LiDAR data, DEMs
- 3 years experience writing technical support documents and systems design documents
- 5 to 7 years demonstrated ability to effectively steward client concerns and issues
- 5 to 7 years experience with administration, tuning, and design of the ArcSDE geodatabase environment for Oracle
- 3 to 5 years experience in the use of ETL tools including FME suite and Spatial Direct
- 3 to 5 years knowledge and experience developing ESRI geoprocessing models including Model Builder and Python
- 5 to 7 years development and implementation experience of ESRI geodatabases and feature classes within ArcSDE
- 3 to 5 years experience in the management of file-based raster and LiDAR data
- Upstream Oil and Gas industry experience is preferred
- experience working with the IHS data model would be an asset
- GIS data management experience within the Upstream Oil and Gas industry would be an asset
- experience working with translation of CAD data to ESRI ArcSDE feature classes would be an asset
- strong written and oral communication skills
