Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for the full-time regular position of Special Assignment Manager based at the Surrey Operations Centre. This position is currently based in Distribution; however, the assignments are subject to rotation within Terasen based on organizational and operational priorities.
This managerial role within the Process Management Department challenges the incumbent to combine strategic thinking with analytical and process design skills in creating and facilitating the implementation of process and technology changes based on our business requirements.
Reporting to the Manager, Distribution Integration, the successful applicant will be part of the Process Management team skilled in the areas of process design, project management, business integration and change management. This group has overall responsibility for the development, enhancement and ongoing analysis of business process redesign.
Duties and Responsibilities
Business Project Management:
- Manage business improvement projects. Identify, build and implement operational plans based on [Employer] priorities
- Assume a Team lead or member role in the development of complex system integration plans for a variety of business process and technology initiatives
- Participate in the development of strategic business plans
- Participate in the development of business cases
Business Integration:
- Play a continuous consultative and advisory role in ensuring alignment of business processes, systems technology and corporate strategic initiatives
- Create standardized, common, integrated business processes based on business priorities, organizational capability and budgetary requirements
- Collaborate with Information Technology to establish common system platforms required to implement the business process
Change Management:
- Develop and deliver communication materials and training plans associated with business process implementations
- Develop and implement coaching methodologies to ensure the successful process knowledge transfer from project members to key stakeholders
Process Design:
- Design end to end business processes including process performance data (cycle times, duration, frequency/analysis/value mapping)
- Provide post-implementation support and transition methodologies for new business processes
- Facilitate the roll-out of policies and procedures associated with new business processes.
Selection criteria for this position will include:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field such as: Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, Project Management and 4 to 6 years relevant work experience
- Strong process design knowledge
- Self-starter who is motivated to identify process improvements and implement changes
- Demonstrated ability to gain the commitment of others and work effectively in a team environment
- Experienced in negotiation, project management and working with cross functional or matrix teams
- Proactive approach to problem solving and issue resolution
- Demonstrated high level of initiative, judgment and results orientation
- Capacity to manage ambiguity and change
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound working knowledge of various applications software in use in the department (Visio, MS Project, PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
- Ability to become proficient with various software applications required to support operations activities (Mobile Data, Resource Scheduling, Work Management, Geographic Information, Customer Information SAP).
