Description
 
[Company] is recruiting a Senior Safety Specialist for the Western Division.  This position is based in Denver, Colorado. 
 
Responsibilities:
         
Implement Company Contractor Safety Management Program to achieve exceptional Contractor Safety performance.
Prepare and present training and educational materials for employee safety meetings both in the field and Denver offices.
Inspect oil and gas production facilities, compressor stations, and gas plants for compliance with OSHA, State and Company rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Lead incident investigations of injuries, vehicle incidents, and environmental upsets.  Determine root cause(s) and prepare appropriate corrective actions and documentation.
Facilitate leadership committee meeting with Division Management.  Prepare statistical and written documentation on EHS scorecard performance on a routine basis.
Review all Division incidents in the Company Tracker database and ensure completeness and accuracy of the data entered.  Coordinate collection of contractor man-hours and report to Corporate.
Coach both employees and contractors on behavioral safety techniques.  Interface with field operations and provide EHS technical support.
Routine travel to locations in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and occasionally Houston.
Provide EHS orientation training to contractors working for the Division.
Lead EH&S production teams to accomplish annual goals.
Represent Company in industry trade associations.
Provide office safety support through effective ergonomics program, training and awareness initiatives.
Assist with due diligence on property divestiture and acquisition activities.
 
Qualifications:
        
Bachelor of Science Degree required from an accredited College or University in a physical science or engineering related discipline.
Bachelor of Science in Occupational or Industrial Safety preferred.
10 - 15 years of EHS work experience in the oil and gas exploration and production or industrial environment demonstrating progressive execution for responsibilities described above.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential preferred.
Strong working knowledge of EPA, OSHA and state EHS regulations.
Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint programs.
Strong interpersonal skills and capable of communicating difficult issues effectively with all levels of the company.  Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Self motivated with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks on a daily basis.  Ability to project a strong professional image and work in a team atmosphere.
