Description
This position is for an individual who will be responsible for ensuring appropriate use of geophysical technologies and tools across the entire company. This includes the assessment of capabilities, developing and implementing appropriate solutions to ensure efficient and effective delivery of geophysical methods across[Company] , and establishing and communicating global geophysical standards and expectations. This is a hands on assignment and the roles leadership will be accomplished by leading through example and taking action through interpretation. This role will focus on providing and performing specialized high-end interpretation on key impact projects, then taking that work and promoting it through out the organization via an education process to raise the technical bar for the entire organization.
Qualifications
Degree: Master degree or higher
Major: Geophysics
Computer Proficiencies: Landmark, Hampson Russell, and Microsoft Office Products
Work Experience
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience as an interpreting geophysicist
- Past corporate geophysical services experience a plus
- A strong background in seismic attribute analysis, inversion and AVO modeling/processing along with a firm understanding of rock physics and calibration.
- Pore pressure analysis experience a plus.
- Exceptional understanding of signal analysis and processing technologies
- Significant experience in the onshore US basins
- Proven track record in applying technology and generating value adding results
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely
- Great interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Work closely with divisional geoscience teams to advise and implement fit for purpose technology solutions on key impact projects
- Perform special studies on subject matter such as seismic to well calibration, seismic acquisition, and specialized attribute analysis
- Work with a geologist and reservoir engineer to integrate seismic data with geologic data and reservoir engineering models
- Interact with the in-house processing group to facilitate their work and facilitate the application of their processing skills on the appropriate projects
- Assist in the technical review of key projects
- Be a communicator of technology and foster the technical development of El Paso geophysical skills
