Position Duties / Responsibilities
Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline for a particular area of the project. Provides engineering assistance to superintendents, directs assigned personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality and assures results meet design requirements.
On a large project, independently performs assigned activities in one discipline, interfacing with other disciplines in all areas of the jobsite.
On a small to medium-sized project, functions as a lead discipline engineer, coordinating related discipline activities and interfacing with other areas/disciplines on the jobsite.
- Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.
- Coordinates and resolves engineering or construction problems with superintendents.
- Interprets design engineering drawings and prepares construction working drawings and packages for the use of superintendents as required, including temporary facilities, field sketches of revisions and additions and preparing "as-built" drawings.
- Reviews design drawings, related vendor drawings and installation instructions and studies interference problems.
- Prepares or directs preparation of field material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials.
- Tracks commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.
- Reconciles all material takeoffs with purchase orders and actual quantities required in field.
- Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.
- Prepares field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices.
- Prepares cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness.
- Monitors the activities of direct hire craft and subcontractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Administers change notices and amendments audits contractor requests for progress payments.
- Maintains updated direct hire and subcontractor schedules, as assigned.
- Performs personnel evaluations of assigned subordinate personnel.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with codes, drawings and specifications.
- Prepares and implements testing and inspection of instrumentation and cabling and documents on Inspection and Test Reports
- Performs system walkdowns, prepares punchlist and tracks to completion
- Assembles all quality documentation into certification packages and reviews for completeness
- Complete knowledge of all types of instrumentation and control systems utilized in LNG plants and how to install and test them
