Our client is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer to join our growing Canadian Energy and Carbon Services Group. The position will be based in our Burnaby, BC office.
The Energy and Carbon Services Group is active in carbon management, energy efficiency and renewable energy consulting, engineering and project implementation. Our services include strategic energy and carbon planning, energy and carbon management system design and implementation, energy audits, energy modelling, feasibility studies, design and construction management, energy performance and carbon offset validation and verification.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities will be primarily in BC and Alberta, but it is anticipated that you will collaborate time to time with Golder colleagues elsewhere in North America and globally;
- As a senior engineer, you will provide leadership in the development and daily operation of the Energy and Carbon Services practise through the Burnaby office. In this capacity you will be expected to be a self-starter, but will actively engage with other members of the Energy and Carbon Services Group and other staff;
- You will play a lead role in identifying and developing clients in the private and public sectors, including owners and operators of industrial, commercial, municipal and institutional facilities. You will accomplish this through your existing contacts, and through collaboration with senior colleagues in the Burnaby office and the Energy and Carbon Services Group;
- You will participate in client development and promotion, and in the preparation of marketing materials and proposals;
- You will become familiar with Golder project management standards and systems, and manage and execute projects according to these;
- You will be responsible for the senior review and delivery of energy studies as they relate to our clients facilities and operations;
- You will work with staff in the Burnaby office and the Energy and Carbon Services Group to mentor and develop existing and new staff, particularly engineers and environmental professionals who support the Energy and Carbon Services Group;
- You will become familiar with and abide by Health and Safety Guidelines and the Code of Ethics;
- You will also be expected to performing other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Engineering, with specialization in Energy, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering discipline;
- Minimum 8 years professional experience in Energy Engineering;
- Must be able to hold Professional Engineer designation in BC and Alberta;
- Must have demonstrated experience in Energy Engineering in buildings and/or industrial facilities (mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper or other);
- Other accreditations would be an asset - such as LEED AP, with demonstrated professional experience in the area of accreditation;
- Experience with design of small-scale or facility-integrated alternative energy projects, including geothermal, hydro, wind, solar and other renewable energy projects would be an asset;
- Demonstrated experience at conducting energy audits in a various types of facilities;
- Must be proficient in MS Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Experience with energy modelling software would be an asset (eQuest, Transys, IES Virtual Environment, RETScreen);
- Experience with filing applications under the NRCan/ecoEnergy and BC Hydro Power Smart Energy subsidy programs;
- Must have excellent communication skills; written and oral
