We are seeking a Northern Business Unit Manager for our est. client; a leading mid-size Calgary based Oil & Gas Company.
Required Skills:
Directly supervising a team of 10, including Geology, Production & Exploitation the Northern Business Unit Manager will report directly to the C.O.O. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the operation and financial performance of our clients Northern Business Unit. This is a new growth position so there is a unique opportunity to play a significant role in selecting team members and opening a new field office. You be responsible for ensuring our clients interests are protected and enhanced through optimizing production and minimizing associated costs in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner.
Qualifications:
- BSc in an Engineering Discipline with 15 years varied experience in operations, production and exploitation/reservoir engineering
- Sound working knowledge of geology, joint ventures, financial accounting/reporting and regulatory compliance are required
- Demonstrated success managing resources (people & capital) in a relevant leadership role
- Must be innovative, flexible and forward thinking
Responsibility:
- Provides direction and leadership to employees
- Ensures proper training to achieve a high level of technical, business and professional competence for all BU staff
- Provides strategic and technical direction to the BU with appropriate focus on each of the properties.
- Ensures maximum production and minimum operating expenses are achieved
- Participates in the ongoing development of health and safety environmental plans
- Acts as a technical resource providing input on potential property acquisitions and divestitures
- Provides input for corporate budgeting process and annual reporting requirements
- Works with the JV group to manage joint interest partner relationships and ensures that reporting to partners is accomplished in a timely manner
- Directs government compliance to ensure that all obligations in regard to Business Unit operations are handled
- Ensures that the performance management system is used to set challenging measurable personal goals that tie to business unit objectives and Key Strategic Corporate objectives
- Works in a team environment focused on coordinating activities with other departments including other Business Units, Drilling & Completions, Land and Accounting
- Contributes to the development of Corporate Operations policy, procedures and standards through active participation in the Operations Leadership Team
