Overview:
This position plays an integral role in laboratory product development, establishment of approved product formulations, agency or industry specification review and application, quality control, sales and manufacturing support, and customer satisfaction for Asphalt & Heavy Oil Marketing. Products supported include Performance Graded Asphalt Binders, Polymer Modified Asphalt Binders, Emulsified Asphalts, Cutback Asphalts, and Industrial Asphalts. Asphalt additive and surfactant chemistry knowledge would be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains a high level of expertise in various asphalt products and binder types, applications and use, modification techniques, rheological characteristics, chemistry and performance.
Participates in the asphalt and heavy oil products sales effort through laboratory testing and evaluation pertaining to technical issues related to customer satisfaction in the areas of product specification and performance, product advantages and/or competition.
Establishes and maintains relationships with certain industry work groups responsible for asphalt products and heavy oil standards, specifications and applications.
Recommends and implements laboratory studies necessary to ensure company compliance with government programs to achieve or maintain approved supplier status
Recommends and implements product development and research studies to ensure that quality standards are achieved and maintained in a cost effective manner, as new products and manufacturing techniques are introduced.
Keeps abreast of developments, techniques, and practices as they affect asphalt and heavy oil markets and uses.
Collaborates on various projects with internal customers in Refining, Terminal Transport & Marine, Product Quality, Asphalt Certification Lab and Marketing & Transportation Engineering.
Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelors required
Discipline: Engineering or Chemistry preferred, but not required.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, but not required.
