Our client, a prominent North American natural gas producer and a leader in the in-situ recovery of oilsands bitumen, is seeking an experienced Contract Negotiator for their Supply Management Team. The successful candidate will develop non-standard Master Agreements with small, medium and large oil & gas suppliers. This role involves managing contracts through all phases of the setup process and acting as a liaison with stakeholders regarding contract exceptions. This role will appeal to individuals with a strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
 
This is a contract position; to be reviewed on an annual basis.
 
Responsibilities 
 
  • Lead negotiations on behalf of the company for non-standard Master Agreements
  • Clearly identify and articulate proposed exceptions to standard form Master Agreements
  • Recognize and evaluate business risks including contractual, financial, performance and schedule-related business risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate with key internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Ensure consistency between final documents and agreements reached during negotiations
  • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining a strong focus on achieving deadlines
 
Requirements 
 
  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related contract negotiation experience, with specific emphasis on risk-related issues such as liability, indemnity and remedies
  • Strong working knowledge of Drilling, Completions, Facilities, Operations and Construction disciplines
  • Collaborative and effective negotiating approach focused on problem solving in win-win solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and work productively with others
  • Post-secondary education specifically related to contracts and contract negotiation
  • Thorough end-to-end hands-on understanding of the negotiation process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • General computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada
