Job Description:
Our Client has taken an active role in helping to build and contribute to the success of Alberta since the late 1800's. Today, they are one of the largest construction firms providing services to the institutional, industrial, civil and municipal sectors.
We are looking for a person that would work with industrial clients to meet their construction needs in various industry sectors. Providing civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical construction services using a skilled trade's workforce.
THE POSITION:
Chief Mechanical Estimator, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager, responsible for supervising and reviewing all Mechanical & Piping estimates. Providing mechanical discipline estimating support to the estimating department and project management teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide labour & material pricing entries;
Supervise and coordinate work affecting mechanical discipline estimates;
Work with Estimating Manager to develop bid strategies and close mechanical estimates;
Work with other discipline estimators to develop mechanical scope of work and costs for multi-discipline estimates;
Maintaining active communication with all tendering authorities, including owners, architects and engineers;
Establish and pricing of indirect costs;
Provide information to support and review detailed scheduling;
Provide support to field operations regarding mechanical estimates /IFC's;
Review and maintain cost codes, project productivity and project control systems specific to mechanical and piping discipline;
Coordinate multidiscipline estimates;
Provide input to proposal documents;
Liaise with Client and Engineering offices to support EDS/AFE budgeting processes.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Minimum of fifteen (15) years progressive estimating experience in the mechanical discipline;
Mechanical/metal trade experience and technical education will be considered an asset;
Supervisory experience will also be considered an asset;
Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments;
Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills, and accuracy;
Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access), experience with packaged mechanical estimating software is an asset;
Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment;
Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
