Our client provides chemical application equipment and services to the oil and mining industry around the world. They are an equipment subsidiary of a world leader in oil, mining, chemical, and wastewater treatment chemicals. They are privately held and have worldwide annual sales of one billion USD. They consistently invest earnings in new plants and equipment. As a result of growth, they are looking for a proactive, self motivated individual to be their eyes, ears, and hands in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Experience and Personal Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance in the petroleum or chemical industry, or equivalent environment preferably.
- Position requires excellent troubleshooting skills, strong oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity or direct knowledge of petroleum and mining operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems including pneumatics and automated control systems would be ideal.
- Welding ability is a plus. Certification not required.
- Allen Bradley PLC programming is a plus
- Basic electrical wiring to Canadian local and regional CSA Standards.
- Knowledge of industry codes, product safety standards, etc.
- Technically competent. Able to establish credibility through application of knowledge and/or experience.
- Team player highly developed human relation skills. Comfortable with customers and suppliers at all organizational levels.
- Organized; capable of supporting multiple concurrent projects.
- Comfortable with extensive travel (80%) based out of the Edmonton area.
- Ability to work in a small team working environment, rather than a large company orientation.
- Self motivated with a strong work ethnic. Proactive, self starter dedicated to completing the job with a “hands on” approach.
- Position Responsibilities The position will report to the Engineering Manager.
- Project responsibilities will include: equipment maintenance, equipment installation or modification, procurement assistance, construction oversight, and start-up assistance. Position will include troubleshooting of existing electrical control systems, PLC's.
- Programming of PLC's will be required, but larger projects will be outsourced.
Responsibilities:
- Candidate will be working with the PLC and hard-wired logic.
- Direct Interface with customers to evaluate specifications and requirements and propose appropriate solutions using equipment packages.
- Responsible for project from concept to completion, including concept design, packaging, testing and installation.
- Provide direction and supervision to design and fabrication staff.
- Interface with company marketing, manufacturing functions, and outside vendors.
- Troubleshoot product performance or operations problems as necessary.
- Extensive travel required visiting customers, suppliers, and professional trade meetings and exhibitions.
- Create a preventative maintenance schedule for critical equipment
- Report efficiencies and downtime of production equipment.
- Ensure proper materials specification on equipment.
- Communicate equipment specifications to vendors.
- Ensure that spares for existing customers are maintained.
