All positions are located at Wolf Lake / Primrose Plant sites and require residency in the Bonnyville or Cold Lake Alberta area.
[Company]’s Thermal Group is based in the Wolf Lake area which is located approximately 50km North of Bonnyville, Alberta and supported by the Cold Lake and Bonnyville communities. We operate 4 plants connected to multiple field wells in the area. [Company]’s large oil production process includes Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS), and Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD). The facilities include multi-plant crude de-hydrations units, 4 steam plants along with 85MW cogeneration power plant and 3 recycle water reuse units with extensive brackish water conditioning facilities.
Candidates will have minimum of 5 years experience in the Oil and Gas, steam generation or pulp/paper industries along with a thorough knowledge of plant processes such compression, dehydration, refrigeration, pipeline and wells, including proven track record in production optimization and cost control. In addition, the candidate must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have a working knowledge of safety policies.
A grade 12 education, or equivalent, is required along with a 2nd or 3rd class Boilers Branch Power Engineering Certificate; and/or Technology Diploma. Certification in First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, H2S and Fall Arrest is considered an asset. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated with strong communication, organizational and team skills complemented with a strong work ethic.
Reporting to the Foreman, the Plant Operator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work 12 hour shift which includes day/night rotation;
- Start and shut down all plant equipment with very little supervision;
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform minor repairs and servicing;
- Assist with the commissioning of new projects;
- Assist in overseeing day to day plant and field activities; and
- Train others.
[Company] does provide transportation to and from the work site where feasible however operators may have to travel to a central pickup point in Cold Lake or Bonnyville. Compensation will be dependent upon qualifications of the applicant.
