The successful candidate will work within a multi disciplinary team that is focused on executing [Company]’s growth strategy for cyclic steam operations in the Clearwater formation.
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the area geomodeller will be responsible for the following:
- Work in a collaborative environment with a variety of technical experts to develop comprehensive 3D geological models of thermal reservoirs
- Integrate a wide variety of geological, petrophysical, engineering and seismic data for use in building and validating block models.
- Use of geostatistical methods such as variograms, micromodeling, and multiple point statistics to characterize uncertainty at unsampled locations and to convey geological risks to the team and management.
- Provide engineering with geocellular models to perform detailed simulation and work with engineering teams to validate results.
- Ensure that the software and the hardware being used is cost effective while delivering high quality results.
- Responsible for the documentation of methodologies used, results reached, and the digital storage of yearly updates for auditing purposes.
- Strong geological background, preferably in oil sands
Candidates should have at least five years of experience working at an upstream oil and gas production company. They should also have good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to take on ever increasing levels of responsibility.
Experience in thermal oil sands would be an asset, but all GeoModellers with a solid understanding of clastic sedimentology and a strong work ethic will be considered. Experience with Accumap, Petra and Petrel Geo-modelling would be helpful.
