Job Description
Our Client has a vacancy for a Senior Geophysicist based in Bakersfield, California, USA. This is a contract position. Please note candidates MUST be eligible to work in the USA.
Main duties:
The successful candidate for this position will be engaged in play generation, prospect evaluation and screening of externally generated prospects.
Must have a clear focus on finding and developing reserves.
Will work with a reservoir management team that includes geologists, reservoir and operations engineers to assist in selecting and supporting new drilling opportunities as well as to develop new play opportunities.
Work will include maximizing value of current geophysical database, considering and evaluating new technology which would assist with field delineation.
Will work to develop a strategic exploration/exploitation business plan to capture new opportunities and add value.
Will identify, evaluate and create a risked inventory of exploration/exploitation prospects within these new plays.
Will also screen, evaluate and recommend participation in external generated opportunities that complement the exploration focus.
Qualifications
BS or higher degree in Geophysics or Geoscience.
Previous petroleum industry experience.
Significant 2D and 3D seismic interpretation experience and proven ability to integrate interpretation with geologic and engineering data.
Experience using seismic attributes for reservoir characterization.
Proficiency in reserves estimation and versed in petroleum economics.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize project work.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Experience
Experience in well planning and drilling operations.
Good understanding of petrophysical interpretation and modeling.
Application of geophysics to reservoir and production monitoring.
Leadership capabilities.
Capable and willing to mentor geophysical personnel.
