Job Description
Our Client is looking for a Metallurgy Specialist. This is a contract position, based in Houston, Texas.
Please note candidates MUST be eligible to work in the USA.
Our Client requires an experienced Metallurgy Specialist to provide project technical support for welding in upstream oil and gas production.
Responsibilities
Support new construction projects with assistance in the specification, selection, qualification, testing and failure analysis of linepipe, processing and structural materials.
Work with the materials suppliers to qualify new linepipe materials and corrosion resistant alloys (including duplex and lean duplex).
Coordinate qualification testing or sour service metallurgy and materials for HP/HT pipeline environments.
Work with engineering and construction contractors to specify and select materials for all aspects of large scale offshore and onshore field development construction projects.
Revise internal specifications for construction, purchasing and fabrication of materials to implement lessons learned and current industry standards.
Represent company in international technical and standards organizations.
Qualifications and experience required
Masters/PHD in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or equivalent.
Extensive industry related experience.
Must have direct experience with materials specification for demanding environments, including low temperature and sour service.
Familiarity with metallurgical processing, material fabrication, welding, mechanical and corrosion testing, as well as failure analysis of carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloys.
Must be conversant with industry standard practices and documentation for welding, testing, inspection and specification of piping, structural steel, pipelines and pressure vessels.
Candidates should also have project engineering experience on large construction projects, general knowledge of corrosion electrochemistry, and corrosion inhibition of tubular goods, practical experience with standard test methods for tubular goods, expertise in codes and standards applied, including API, ASME, ASTM, DNV and ISO.
Must be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results through a multi-disciplinary team.
Team-work and leadership skills are essential.
