Description
Performs manual labor to support Equipment Shops operations including: cleaning, general housekeeping, shoveling, moving and delivering materials and parts, trash pickup and disposal.
Essential Job Functions
- Cleans parts, tools and equipment.
- Assists shop personnel as required in the performance of their tasks.
- Performs heavy work outside in severe arctic weather, to include snow removal around facilities, and digging out vehicles and equipment.
- Utilizes brushes, brooms, soaps and solvents when necessary to facilitate removal of sludge, grease and oil.
- Responsible for keeping equipment shop building and equipment clean.
- Perform manual labor as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability
- Possess a working knowledge of small hand tools, such as shovels, hammers, drills, and grinders.
- Possess current general knowledge of practical laborer skills.
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
- Ability to work closely with mechanics.
- Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals and safety/warning signs.

MOBILITY: Employee frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Must be physically able to access all mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
FINE MOTOR SKILLS: Frequently required to use hands and fingers with sufficient dexterity to perform close, exacting and repetitive tasks.
HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms and warnings.
VISUAL ACUITY: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Vision must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner.
LIFTING: The employee must regularly lift, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to severe arctic weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and confined spaces. May be required to work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
One (1) year of related construction labor working experience is preferred.
Arctic / North Slope or other cold weather environment experience preferred.
Basic Qualifications
Valid driver’s license required and ability to be insured by CH2MHILL’s auto insurer (must provide a 5-year MVR at the time of hire).
