Description
 
Performs fitting and welding of metal components for fabrication or repair of machine parts, plant equipment and structures according to layout, blueprints or work orders using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
 
Essential Job Functions
 
  • Constructs, maintains and modifies piping systems and process equipment related to petrochemical industry by welding of pipe, flanges and various fittings using applicable welding techniques and processes
  • Measures pipe routing and draft pipe configuration
  • Provide direction to others in support of the assigned measuring, fit-up and pipe welding task
  • Responsible for complete execution of work orders for specific jobs
 
Knowledge, Skills, Ability
 
  • Demonstrate adherence to established welding and safety policies and procedures.
  • Must have a working knowledge of welding procedures, practices and techniques and welding skills
  • Must have been demonstrated by testing and certification
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools associated with welding
  • Possess knowledge of AWS, ANSI, API and ASME codes
  • Must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the functional operation of welding equipment, electrodes, fluxes, shielding gasses and types of welding processes
  • Ability to effectively communicate, written and oral
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must be able to perform tasks in a safe manner
  • Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals and safety/warning signs, which includes completing employee hiring documents and forms

MOBILITY: Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
 
Individual is occasionally required to sit.
 
Individual must be able to access all areas described in above job description, climbing structures and scaffolding.
 
FINE MOTOR SKILLS: Frequently required to use hands and fingers with sufficient dexterity to perform close, exacting and repetitive tasks.
 
HEARING Must be able to hear audible safety alarms reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 
VISUAL ACUITY: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
 
Vision must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner.
 
LIFTING: The employee must regularly lift, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
 
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must display ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals and safety/warning signs.
 
Must display sufficient oral communication skills to be able to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
 
ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to arctic weather conditions.
 
The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, confined spaces, toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock.
 
Tools: Must own and be equipped with usual hand tools required for facilitation of Welder/Fitter duties as outlined above.

Basic Qualifications
 
Three (3) years experience in oilfield or petrochemical plant maintenance and construction
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
