Essential Job Duties:
Develop and maintain relations with local media outlets, business media and relevant trade press;
Coordinate incident communications, including development of key messages and implementation of outreach to all key audiences both internal and external;
Develop stories for company web site, intranet and company reports and other collateral.
Coordinate regional employee communications regarding announcements and issues regionally and from the corporate office, industry topics and organizations, company events, etc.;
Develop, maintain and facilitate relationships with local/regional business, community leaders and regional industry groups (i.e. TIPRO, API);
Coordinate with various departments and staff in addressing local/regional concerns in regard to environmental impacts or cultural sensitivities;
Monitor local/regional government issues and track legislation impacting Oxy, the extractive industries and/or Oxy asset locations;
Identify and screen contribution recipients and determine business purpose for proposed contributions;
Collaborate with Communications and Public Affairs staff on projects and contribute to department programs and strategic planning;
Maintain collaborative relations with all members of C&PA Dept.; area operations General Managers
 
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 6 years of experience with proven success in media relations or communications representing a complex, publicly held, global company.
Experience in the oil and gas, chemical or other global process industries preferred.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills with demonstrable experience in all forms of corporate and executive communication.
Experience with reputation management, crisis management and issue-based communications.
Maturity, confidence, poise and presence necessary to interface effectively with senior-level executives as well as external constituencies such as media, special-interest groups and stockholders.
Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Resourceful problem solver with ability to formulate and execute plans efficiently and effectively.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications desired; an advanced degree is a plus.
