Job Description:
Perform transfers of hazardous and non-hazardous products in compliance with training provided in accordance with KMT work instructions and government regulations (EPA, FRA, DOT and OSHA).
Climb on to top of tank cars and tank trucks in order to inspect and seal railcars using a checklist.
Inspect and seal trailers.
Perform/document a DOT pre and post loading inspection on all containers.
Operate trackmobile to perform railcar switching.
Drive golf cart through facility.
Perform mechanical inspections using checklists.
Prepare products for transferring, such as sampling and taking gravities.
Perform all duties safely, effectively and efficiently.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Participate in daily Safety / Quality talks.
Report all incidents and near misses.
Understand and comply with Shipper Confidentiality when discussing Shipper Accounts.
Perform all daily housekeeping duties to include bathrooms, windows, sweeping, mopping, trash pick-up, washing equipment / accessories, shoveling, drains, break rooms and shop areas.
Comply with cross training as required.
Ask questions concerning product integrity, product shortages or equipment quality.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or GED.
Must be able to understand and comply with all requirements for any emergency.
Experience using hand tools required.
Must be able to take direction / supervision and work cooperatively with other people.
Experience operating mobile equipment preferred.
Hazmat and rail yard experience a plus.
Basic math skills.
Basic competency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook ) preferred.
Must be able to climb up and down rail cars, trailers and trucks.
Must be able to lift industrial hoses repeatedly throughout the workday.
Must be able to sweep, shovel, use hand tools (i.e., wrenches, measuring tapes, seal cutters) and open and close rail cars.
Must be able to wear KMT supplied Personal Protective Equipment (including full body hazmat suit) as required.
Must be able to wear cartridge respirator as required.
Will be required to work outside in all types of weather throughout the year.
Must be able to work extended hours and overtime as needed.
Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Must be able to lift / carry up to 50 pounds.
Successful applicant subject to background check and drug screening upon job offer.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must have and maintain a clean driving record in accordance with KM's insurance requirements.
Ability to attain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as issued by TSA.
