There is an immediate opening for an Engineering Technical Assistant.
Duties
The Engineering Technical Assistant will work directly for the Director of Engineering and Technical Services.
The Company currently uses somewhat standardized Excel spreadsheets to estimate project costs.
Each spreadsheet is tailored to the specific job that is planned.
Once the project becomes a contract, the spreadsheet is used to:
Track field estimated costs,
Check field costs against final invoices from various vendors,
And predict areas where project costs will exceed the original estimates.
At which time, the client must be notified of the pending change in the contract amount.
The Technical Assistant will be directly involved in current activities and continuously updating cost spreadsheets that have been generated.
Operating data, provided by clients, are also inputted into Excel spreadsheets and Access for later inclusion in other technical software that is used by the technical staff.
The Technical Assistant will be directly involved with inputting data that have been developed by the technical staff.
This data may include:
Fluid volumes and rates,
Well construction depths and sizes,
And geological data that may require electronic sorting for tabulation in engineering documents.
The company uses PowerPoint to prepare exhibits, presentations, simple schematics and sketches for proposal and report documents.
More complicated drawings are prepared in AutoCAD.
The Technical Assistant will be expected to create, edit, and modify PowerPoint Exhibits and use AutoCAD.
All written documents generated by the technical personnel are created in Microsoft Word.
The Technical Assistant will generate memorandums and other documents using Word.
There will be other general duties required which will include sorting and organizing material submitted by the Field Supervisors to streamline the preparation of final reports, invoice processing, and progress of multiple projects.
Requirements
Must be proficient with at least 5 years of experience in the use of Microsoft Office Products to include the following: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Access (Excel and PowerPoint are the key areas of proficiency with some experience of the other listed Microsoft software.)
Must have some AutoCAD experience, whether hands-on or training.
Must be detail oriented.
Must be capable of concentrating on multiple simultaneous projects.
Project scheduling experience would be a major plus.
Microsoft Project or similar would be asset.
Associates degree or some education/training in technical area.
